John,

If I am not mistaken, John Barden's doctoral dissertation, "'Flushed with
notions of freedom' : the growth and emancipation of a Virginia slave
community, 1732-1812," which is about Robert Carter and includes a list of
those whom Robert Carter emancipated. I don't have the dissertation in
front of me, but I am sure someone on this list has more ready access to it
than I do and can verify that.
