Many researchers remember our former colleague Robert Clay and the ways
in which he patiently and sometimes not so patiently passed on his vast
knowledge of Virginia's records. Here at the library we fondly remember
a colleague who once offered to take back Mercer County if he could give
away Fairfax. With processing now complete on Clay's personal papers,
future patrons can continue to learn from Clay's wit and knowledge.
