Cornwallis Entraps the Boy- Well Almost!

Hi Folks,

Come and hear Chris Bryce of the National Park Service speak on “Prelude to Yorktown: the Battle of Green Spring” and see how close Cornwallis came to actually entrapping the Marquis de Lafayette and his small army. The next meeting of the American Revolution Round Table of Richmond will be on Wednesday, September 21, in the Heilman Dining Center at the University of Richmond. Dinner is available from 5:30, with the meeting beginning at 6:30. Details, directions, and maps are at http://arrt-richmond.org/3.html. Chris is the expert on Green Spring, so please join us to learn about this overlooked but important action. All are welcome.

Also, Dr. Harry Ward, of ARRT-Richmond, will be signing copies of his Duty, Honor or Country: General George Weedon and the American Revolution this Saturday, September 17, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. This will occur at the Sentry Box, Weedon’s 18th century home, at 133 Caroline Street in Fredericksburg. Harry would like to arrange a ride. If anyone is available to assist, please contact him at 804-289-8345 at the University of Richmond. Thanks.

Don’t forget to occasionally check the ARRT-Richmond Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/American-Revolution-Round-Table-Richmond/210690742278769. Thanks to Mark Groth for his efforts.

See you on September 21.

Bill Welsch
