Friends and descendants of John Marshall will be interested to know that the
Virginia Canals and Navigations Society will be celebrating the bicentennial
of his pioneering 1812 survey between the eastern and western waters, over
the Alleghany Mountains, on May 4-6, in Covington and Clifton Forge.
Non-members of the society are welcome to register and attend the meeting.
At the same time, a team led by Andrew Shaw, with a National Geographic
grant, will be re-enacting the batteau voyage. For details see
www.vacanals.org or contact the meeting organizer, Philip de Vos,

Subject: John Marshall relatives or portrayers?
Can anyone give me a contact for either descendants of John Marshall or
people who portray him as an historic figure? Our Fairfax County Library
John Marshall branch is planning its 50th anniversary celebration and would
like to get in touch with someone. You can either contact me or Kathryn
Alleman, the branch manager at John Marshall.

Hi, Suzanne.
Can you believe it, John Marshall Library will turn 50 next year. I figure
better start planning now. Would you have any contact information for John
Marshall's descendants in the area and/or who I can contact for an actor who
does reenactments? A John came ten years ago when JM turned 40.
Thank you
Kathryn
