I haven't followed this much since the initial DNA testing was done. At that
time only Y DNA testing was being performed which tests the DNA of the
Jefferson male ancestors. Now there is a test known as autosomal testing
which compares 22 chromosomes plus the X chromosome. If someone was truly
interested in proving or disproving the connection between the Jeffersons
and Hemings family they would do this test. So the question for me is, "Why
hasn't it been done or has it? Recently one of the DNA testing companies did
this test for free. Even now the cost is minimal.

My answer to the question is that it doesn't benefit either because neither
really wants to take the chance they will be proven wrong. As long as Y DNA
testing was the only test done there is always room to argue the point. I'm
not posting this to argue. I'm just stating facts about more recent DNA
testing for those who have not kept up the the newest developments in this
area.
Linda

Must concur with Yojsouth. Scientific "proof" the DNA results are not.

Scholars I respect believe the evidence is compelling, based on other
circumstances in the lives of the Hemings family. Only those who do not
understand the science can believe that the DNA testing proves paternity.

The term "paternity disbelievers" is a less than objective description of
those that apparently offer an evaluates the facts in that matter.
