I am amazed at the lack of knowledge of people on this site. Harry Byrd, 
Jr. is still alive - in his nineties and yes he is related to William 
Byrd II.

The adopted Byrd is Senator Robert C. Byrd of WV who is still serving in 
the U.S. Senate. No relation to Harry Byrd.
