Dawson was Monroe's law partner for a while - and served with him in
convention of 1788 - you might inquire of the James Monroe Foundation
museum and library in Fredericksburg.

> Dear List Members:
>
> I am looking for an image of John Dawson, a fairly prominent
> Anti-Federalist in Virginia. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates
> (representing Spotsylvania County), in the Continental Congress, and in
> the
> U.S. House of Representatives from 1797-1814. The U.S. House Web site
> does
> not have a portrait of him. Neither does the Library of Congress Web
> site,
> the Virginia Historical Society, or the Library of Virginia.
>
> Thank you for your help with this.
