According to the marker in place, the ruins of the first Catholic Church in
Virginia, which I believe was built in the 17th Century, are on the side of
U.S. 1 near Aquia. The outline of the church foundation is still in place.

I am aware of the Catholic faith of the Brent family. I have always felt that
several of the other early families who were related to the Brents may have
been secret Catholic adherents before and perhaps after coming to Virginia.
