Cyber Tredegar: Join Us for the Center's First Virtual Book Club, Wednesday,
June 16

The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar is forming a Virtual Book
Club in partnership with the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago.

Join us on July 10, 2010 at 12:00 noon for a live webcast featuring author
Mark A. Lause. He will be discussing his book, Race and Radicalism in the
Union Army. In this compelling portrait of interracial activism, Lause
documents the efforts of radical followers of John Brown to construct a
tri-racial portion of the Federal Army of the Frontier.

For the avid "buffs," we invite you to a "sneak peak" of the Tredegar
Virtual Book Club,on Wednesday, June 16 at 7pm for our first virtual signing
in the Center's museum store on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 7p.m. The
featured author will be Edwin C. Bearss who will discuss his latest work,
Receding Tide: Vicksburg and Gettysburg - the Battles that Changed the Civil
War.

In 2005, Abraham Lincoln Book Shop rolled out a new concept in book signing
events, the Virtual Book Signing.

A virtual book signing is a live, online signing event, webcast from the
Abraham Lincoln Book Shop. Club members purchase their book from the Center
and watch the author inscribe a bookplate in Chicago, which is then shipped
to their home after the event. The Virtual Book Signing also allows club
members to interact with the author during the discussion with the
assistance of an on-site scribe.

Virtual Book Signing has featured such prominent historians as Gary
Gallagher, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Harold Holzer, and Ruth Hill McAllister,
and has been featured on BookTV and in The Wall Street Journal and the
Chicago Tribune.

To reserve your space or purchase a book for the June 16 "sneak peak" or
pre-register for the July 10 program, please contact the Center at
[log in to unmask] or call (804) 780-1865 x16. Be sure to indicate which
session you'd prefer. Visit www.VirtualBookSigning.net for more information
on the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop and Virtual Book Signing.
