The Valentine Richmond History Center invites the Richmond community
to learn about and comment on ideas for a new comprehensive history
exhibition on the city of Richmond.  The History Center wants Richmond
residents to see their lives reflected in the Richmond History Gallery
and is inviting members of the community to offer their thoughts and
suggestions. Project Manager and Historian Edward D. Ragan will
present an overview of developing themes and sample objects. The
exhibit designer will present preliminary design ideas. Light
refreshments will be provided.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The Richmond History Gallery (RHG) Project encompasses the planning
and research necessary to create a new comprehensive history
exhibition on the city of Richmond at the Valentine Richmond History
Center. The new exhibit will consist of a core overview gallery
accompanied by various rotating exhibitions and programming.  It will
require a complete renovation of the museum's first floor interior.
This represents the final public input stage on this project, with one
additional public meeting occurring November 16, 2010.

The Valentine Richmond History Center has been collecting, preserving
and interpreting the history of Richmond, Virginia, since 1894 and
maintains the largest and finest collection of objects, papers and
textiles available for research and interpretation of Richmond's rich
history. Located in the heart of historic downtown, the History Center
is creating a lively and compelling center for residents and tourists
to discover the diverse stories that come together to tell the story
of Richmond.
