With the Virginia Gazette moving from Williamsburg to Richmond in 1780 (Rev
War), amongst a myriad of newspapers there, the 'choice' apparently became
muddled, but maybe the Virginia Gazette and Weekly Advertiser in Richmond.
See: http://www.loc.gov/rr/news/18th/virginia.html

As fast as publications were changing hands, it seems you could have
deflected by asking: Now which part of the 1790's is your interest? Some
such ploy is always good anyway while you change the subject and find time
for research. (Don't give it away with a red face or by turning your head
sideways and shifting your eyes downward.)
