When my brother and his wife were looking for a name for their baby boy,
they wanted a name that connected with my Mom's family. Since the Spradins,
for a while, lived in the Staunton District in Bedford Co., they picked the
name Staunton. But to avoid the nightmare of mispronunciation, they decided
to spell it "Stanton"!
