Thanks for all your responses. I must clarify that the $200 is for 3
people, each person has records in deeds, wills, and marriages. That totals
$25 + $25 +30 =$80 for one person to get copies X 3 people = $240.00.
I checked with my local library and they do ILL on anything EXCEPT
genealogy. I have a call in to them to find out why since I am paying steep
fees on my taxes to support the library.
I guess the best thing to do is slowly spend the money over a period of time
to get the copies that I need to further my research.
Everyone here has been very helpful and I thank you all. I have a better
understanding now of what I need to do.
All was not lost in my research in Shenandoah County. I did get to visit
the Powell's Big Fort (Fort Valley) and see where my ancestors came from.
It was beautiful country and I was moved to be in the area they resided in
the mid/late 1700's.
Virginia is a beautiful state and Fort Valley and Passage Creek was the
highlight of my trip to your beautiful state.
Thanks again. I will continue reading here and participating as I feel I
can learn so much.
