Possibly you're addressing me, the author of the notice that you're quite
rightly questioning. But even if not: Though the appearance is that the
conference is a production of the Fort Monroe Authority, it's actually a
production of Dorothy Rouse-Bottom, whose connections in academe enabled her
to draw so distinguished a set of speakers. She's also a board member of
Citizens for a Fort Monroe National Park, which is my connection to her.
When she asked us to help spread the word about this event, I tried to help.
And no, by no means is the conference filled up -- that's a shame, and
that's why I'm trying to help her. I didn't know that the hotel deadline had
passed, but I'll find out about the hotel, and I'll post more information
probably sometime today. I can already report that I'm told by Dorothy that
another speaker has been added -- Nicholas Luccketti, head of the James
River Archaeological Institute. Thanks.
