Brown Rives & Company was operated by James Brown and Robert Rives (Rives
built the first section of Oak Ridge Estate in Nelson County
(http://www.oakridgeestate.com/pages/about.htm)
They did considerable business in Richmond, Amherst, Bent Creek, Warminster,
and Variety (Cabell's Variety Mill). Rives was a son in law of Col. William
Cabell.

I am not researching those individuals, but I am interested in Brown Rives &
Company. I saw that name on one of my ancestors documents, and would like
more information on them. My ancestor, Charles Lewis, was a businessman at
Rocketts Landing in Richmond. I believe he did business, or was associated
with Brown Rives.
