Just a quick update. There is an online aerial photograph taken in the
1960s of Church Hill. There is also a inventory photograph taken in or
around 1938 by Madge Goodrich of the house in question. I can see what
appears to be the two houses beside it in the aerial photo but a vacant
lot where the Wills House appears to have been so possibly it was
demolished between 1938-c.1965. This may help zero in on what is needed
to find out when it was torn down. Aren't there permits issued for such
things and if so, on microfilm?
Thanks again!
Eric

Subject: Urban Renewal Project of 1970s and/or House on N 30th
history...
I am not sure if you can help but seeking some historical background
concerning a redevelopment project that occurred in the 1970s here in
Richmond, especially the North 30th Street corridor around the Church
Hill Pump Station built in 1954.
There was a house located directly across the street from it at address
707-707-1/2 N 30th (Wills House). The houses there now were built in
1981. The old brick house that stood on the lot was built around 1810
and still there in 1938.
I was wondering if there was any survey that states this house or a
group of them being demolished between 1938 and the Redevelopment
Program post 1974? Possibly it was destroyed when the station was
erected or not long afterwards?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated as I am working on this
family's history and the house is significant.
Thanks!
Eric
