Dear List Members:
Come help the Library of Virginia celebrate Archives Month in Virginia!
Please visit the LVA on Wednesday October 26th in the first floor
conference rooms from 11:00-2:00 p.m. as we celebrate the value of the
Commonwealth's historical records.
Archives Month is a nationwide celebration held each October that
recognizes the importance of archives and archivists and their role in
promoting democracy and ensuring responsive government. This year's
theme is "Celebrating Advocacy for Archives" and October has been
proclaimed Virginia Archives Month by Governor Bob McDonnell.
Join us to see displays from the Library's many archival collections,
take behind-the-scenes tours of our conservation and microfilm labs, and
visit the archives stacks. Staff will be present to show off interesting
documents and to advise on how to effectively use the Library's many
manuscript collections. Archivists will also be available to discuss
their work and share expert tips about archival research and records
preservation.
The Library of Virginia is located at 800 East Broad Street in historic
Richmond, Virginia. The Library offers limited free parking to patrons
using the building during operating hours. The parking deck entrances
at the Library of Virginia are located on 8th and 9th Streets and have a
height restriction of 7 feet. Both 8th and 9th Streets are one way
streets. Elevators will take patrons from the parking garage to the
lobby of the library. Parking validations are given in the lobby when
leaving the library.
