The fourth annual Virginia Forum was held at Longwood University, in
Farmville, on Friday and Saturday of last week. The quality of the
program was as high as for the first three conferences, and the nearly
200 people who attended had a whale of a good time on the beautiful
campus. Many thanks to all of the people who were on the program, and
many thanks to Larissa Smith Fergeson, who was in charge of local
arrangements, to David Coles, chair of the history department, and to
the staff and student volunteers who made the conference go off as
smooth as glass.

The fifth Virginia Forum will take place at Christopher Newport
University, in Newport News, on 16 and 17 April 2010. I hope to see
everybody there.
