The announcement that Annette Gordon-Reed won the Pulitzer Prize for
history this year will please some Va-Hist subscribers and displease
other Va-Hist subscribers. Inasmuch as the people with strong opinions
on that book have already had multiple opportunities to publicize their
opinions repeatedly and at length and often to the consertation or
annoyance of Va-Hist subscribers who have heard it all too often before,
I do not propose to post comments on this event that merely repeat what
got posted last year or that contain aspersions on the motives or
scholarship of other people, be they Va-Hist subscribers or not.
