The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the
Treasure House lecture series will take place at noon on Tuesday, 20
April, 2004 in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the Library
of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond.
Craig Reynolds, a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University,
will present his findings on the McAdams family, life on the 900 block
of West Franklin Street and the aesthetic taste of the day exhibited by
the cast iron firebacks inside McAdams House. Reynolds also will
describe the movement in the late 19th-century that focused on cast iron
as a new medium in American architecture.
