Another Untold Story of Race and Richmond March 28, 2013

Richmond native Carmen Foster will present on an important piece of
Richmond's past: the untold story of Hartshorn Memorial College, a private
school for African American women. Founded in 1883 in the vestry of
Ebenezer Baptist Church, the school was located at the corner of Lombardy
and Leigh Streets and officially merged with Virginia Union University in
1932. Foster, a longtime supporter of the VCU Friends of the Library, is a
doctoral candidate at the University of Virginia. For information, contact
