Hello Anita,
I meant “suitable for framing” metaphorically as something beautiful or
pleasing. It was never a common practice as far as I am aware. People may
have framed their own copies of important documents. Whenever I see an
unusual or beautiful document in the collection -- some of our hand-drawn
and hand-colored plats come to mind -- my first thought is that they are as
beautiful as anything in a gallery. Documents in the care of an archive would
generally not be framed long-term because of preservation concerns. Thanks
for reading.
-Dale
