Oakland - Nelson County Museum of History
Grand Opening
Sunday, August 17, 2008
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

(Oakland is the two-story red house on Rt. 29 North between Colleen and
Lovingston, close to the Oak Ridge Estate)

Free parking beside the museum
  a.. Experience Nelson County History Along the Old Stage Road
  b.. Tour the Oakland Tavern and Learn the History
  c.. Visit the New Exhibit-"Cuttin' on the Lights"
  d.. Exhibits on Hurricane Camille and Formation of Nelson County
  e.. Music and Refreshments on the Lawn
  f.. Games for the Children
  g.. View interactive map that shows development of electricity
  h.. See exposed beams and cage bar in the tavern room
  i.. Look closely at the recently uncovered ca. 1840 writing on a plastered
wall
  j.. See the new VA Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic
Places plaques by the front door
