  "Other than Jefferson's affair with Sally Hemings, which I am inclined to 
  believe just on the fact that Jefferson was a man and a Virginian"

  So, being a man and/or a Virginian makes an affair with his slave believable?  I ponder who shall be more incensed over this statement - the men or the Virginian.  One should consider those of us who fit into both categories SOL?
