Hi all,
It is very true that the home at Berkeley was built in 1726 by Benjamin
Harrison IV, my 7th great-grandfather, the same year his and his wife Anne
Carter's son Bejamin V was born.
However on that same property in the 1600's it is also true there was a
Thanksgiving. here is a webpage with a good 1998 article in reference to this
subject: http://www.vatc.org/pr/feature/thanks.htm
this is on the site of the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
God bless,
Beth

> Good Question about Thanksgiving and the Berkeley Plantation. The Hornbook of
> Virginia History states on Page 221 that the Berkeley Plantation was build in
> 1726 by Benjamin Harrison the father of the Benjamin Harrison who signed the
> Declaration of Independence. I would think that the First Thanksgiving
> happened at least 100 years before the Berkeley Plantation was built.
