This has been posted in part before but I am really in need of help.
Kind of at a brick wall and need some suggestions.
Looking for actual birth and death of someone named Capt. Charles Wills. We believe he was born in Isle of Wight County, VA – lived in Warwick County and moved by 1801 to Richmond, Henrico County, VA per tax records. He died in late 1820 in Richmond, VA.
Problem is that the cemetery we believe he is at (St. John’s Church) are missing crucial pages in the burial book that covers years that include 1820. I also think the places he was born and lived at are considered “burned counties”.
This has been a long standing brick wall for me and only new piece of info I stumbled across was a one sentence listing of his wife Sarah Wills having died in Richmond 1826.
Needing some new leads. He left no will and his estate was probated and have that itemized list which is one bracket of knowing he died in late 1820 – the other is a daughter’s marriage that lists him as the “late” and a Mutual Assurance policy which starts with “estate”.
Not sure if even hiring someone at this point will help?
Eric
