Mr/Ms Jenkins,
If you are so "proud" of being a 14th generation southerners, I suspect the
arrogance is on your side, not mine. It is you who seems to be thinking that
one side or the other is superior. It is not the first time that someone has
implied that southerners are to be considered superior to those "D-Yankees".
When one sets aside the centuries of human abuse known as slavery, and looks
at the continued abuse under the reign of Jim Crow, one cannot find a single
redeeming grace. Last month I added Mildred Loving to my Famous Americans
website (http://www.educationalsynthesis.org/famamer )so that children can
learn to what extent people went to, to extend the arm of the government
into the personal lives of the governed (or at least those not lucky enough
to be born into the "right" race). Hopefully children will learn the horrors
inflicted on human lives when governments, federal or state, interfere where
they dare not tread. Perhaps Mildred Loving's story will convince more of
our youth that setting laws as to what race or gender can marry whichever
other race or gender, is unacceptable in a Land of Freedom.

"The War of Northern Agression"
And why, might I inquire, would that be so "stupid" to many of us who have
VERY deep southern roots? I find a certain arrogance in your attitude that
suggests to me you believe yourself, and the "north" in general, superior to
we Southerners.
Glad we Southerners could provide you with a you laugh.

Tom,
I have described the bitterness I have seen in Virginia since this "D****d
Yankee" moved here forty years ago. I call it the Civil War, but have
heard
any variety of names, including the stupidest: The War of Northern
Agression. A sister moved to Texas a few years ago, and we had a good
laugh
over the way southerners try to make it sound like they were not at fault
for that bloody conflict.
