Randy Cabell will like this.

Va-Hist subscriber Peter Bergstrom supplied me with a reference to an
expense account for the York County celebration of the restoration of
King Charles II in the autumn of 1660. "In the proclaiming of his sacred
Majesty," the county rented the use of cannon, bought gunpowder from the
governor, purchased rum and cider in very great quantities, and paid 800
pounds of tobacco "To the Trumpeters."

See York County Deeds, Orders, Wills, Etc., 3 (1657-1662), folio 96.
