Roy:
In response to your query about the Hunter Family. Yes there are several
things in the Hornbook on a Robert Hunter and a Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter
and I quote as follows:
Page 105 - Robert Hunter (1666-1734), governor, 22 April 1707 - September
1709. Captured by the French on his way to Virginia and never served in the
colony.
Page 128 - Confederate States Cabinet Officers, Secretary of State, Robert
Mercer Taliaferro Hunter (1809-1887), 25 July 1861 - 17 February 1862 appointed
by Jefferson Davis
Page 140 - Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter (1809-1887), from Essex County,
1837-1841, Whig; 1841-1843 Independent; 1845-1`847 Democrat.
Page 158 - Under paragraph heading Members of United States 1789-1994 -
Senate. Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter (1809-1887), from Essex County, 1847-1861
Democrat.
Page 154 - Members of the Provisional Confederate Congress February 1861 -
February 1862, Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter (1809-1887), from Essex Co., May
1861 - February 1862.
Page 156 - Under Members of the First and Second Confederate Congresses
February 1862 - March 1865 - Senate. Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter (1809-1887)
from Essex County 1862 - March 1865.
This is all that I could find in the Hornbook about the Hunter Family. I hope
that it is of some help to you.
