Hello all,

I would like to respond to the question regarding the Library’s reopening.
We are in fact putting the finishing touches on our reopening plan which
will be announced in the next few weeks. The Library of Virginia’s highest
priority is the health, safety, and well-being of our staff and community
members. In addition to all relevant Executive Orders, the Library is
following guidelines recommended by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH)
and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are making
physical changes to the research areas, replacing signage, revising
procedures, and implementing a by-appointment model to support social
distancing, among other changes. One of our greatest challenges has been
securing the PPE and other supplies necessary to reopen.

We completely understand how difficult it has been for researchers not to
have had direct access to our resources for the past two months.  I can
assure you that we will be back in business soon and that an announcement
to that effect will appear shortly. We thank you for your patience. In the
meantime, we are always happy to serve researchers remotely through email
