I did not mean to infer that you were not told this. There were a
significant number of people even working for Senator Byrd who really did
not care for him. Even in my case, it took some time to separate political
feelings from personal.
That being said. I will not engage in a sniping war of comments in this
forum. If anyone has any questions on my comments. Let us take it off line.
Thank you to all the contributors to this site.

Wishful thinking?
BTW, I once spoke to Byrd's senate office and was informed he is not a Byrd
family member, but was adopted. I AM NOT MAKING THIS ONE UP!

John,
It is current Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who is adopted, not the
former Senator Harry F. Byrd Jr. of VIRGINIA. about whom I was asking. He
descends from the Westover William Byrds, considered by many Virginia's
first
family.
Senator Robert Byrd of WEST VIRGINIA was adopted by his biological aunt and
her husband Titius Dalton Byrd.
Here is current Senator Robert Byrd's Senate website bio in which he
mentions his adoptive parents: _http://byrd.senate.gov/bio.htm_

A picture of his mother who died when he was one year old is here:
