Another abbreviation from the late 18th and early 19th centuries was  
Jno. for John.  John Wickham, noted Richmond attorney whose house is  
preserved and interpreted as part of the Valentine Richmond History  
Center in Richmond often signed his name "Jno. Wickham." Also Thomas  
is often seen as Tho.,Th. or simply T.
