We know that things changed over time.  My point was that historically there was a disdain for the Irish and the Scotch Irish, by the English. America was not settled by the royalty of England, they were the landless, and some were criminals, and ne'er do wells. I am sure that once class was defined by race, in the Americas, many of the social barriers existing in Europe disappeared.
