The standard bio of Harry Byrd is still, for better or worse, Jay Harvey
Wilkinson's senior thesis, later a book, "Harry Byrd & the Changing Face
of Virginia," 1968.  If someone is aware another, please let us all
know.

As to Vernon Johns, there are two: Patrick Cooney's 1998 book, and Henry
Powell's pub of 2000. As to Leslie Griffin, there are none that I know
of.  Perhaps one IS waiting to be written.
