Now that I've switched to gmail the VA-HIST messages come through with all
these damned codes consisting of "=" and "=20=". Is there some button I
should push to switch formats or something? Please reply to me off-list.

Also, I have at last given up on the Digest mode because so many people do
not delete the previous messages from their windows before hitting "send"
and the Digests are impossible to read with all the elephantine posts
endlessly repeating the prior posts. It's like unfurling a twenty-foot
scroll to find one paragraph.
