See the book "Charles Bridges and William Dering: Two Virginia Painters,
1735-1750," by Graham Hood (Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and
University Press of Virginia, 1978), plates 44 and 45 for a portrait
identified as "Charles Carter of Cleve" by unknown artist. It is
described as oil on canvas, 50" x 40", Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
