Try Charles Bracelen Flood's, "Lee, The Last Years" for a different view
into Lee's post-war years. It deals entirely with his immediate post-war
poverty and his tenure at Washington College (now Washington & Lee
University). While many of us honor Lee for his generalship, his
peacemaking following the war is not well known.
