Every couple of years I ask if any contemporary historian has found a
complete copy of the Miley Notes, compiled by Martin Miley.
Miley, born in 1816, lived four miles west of Woodstock . He
collected about 100 pages of notes from old settlers in the
Shenandoah Valley and these later were copied into notebooks by his
daughter, a Mrs. Boyer. His granddaughter Emile Regina Boyer of
Stephens City had the notes when John W. Wayland was writing in the
1920s. I believe Strickler and Kercheval also quoted from them in
their works.
Does anyone know if a complete copy still exists somewhere?
