Adrian,

Setting aside your personal attacks, I strongly suggest that you read
"Jefferson's Women" by John Kukla and acquaint yourself with the broader
picture of Jefferson's relationships with women to the extent they are
documented in his writings and the writings of others. It will open your
eyes to the reality of the man you seem to consider a saint.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe you are arguing from the
position of having read Ms. Gordon-Reed's book.
You seem to want to condemn her without reading what she actually wrote.

And, while you may have a point that mere presence does not make one a pimp,
the fact that Jefferson was the OWNER of Sally Hemings and had legal control
over all of her actions, makes his offering of her body to family members
the act of a pimp.

Anne
