There is a posthumous portrait, probably executed from a life portrait
or photograph, in the state art collection. It once hung in the Supreme
Court, and for all I know it may still. It is reproduced in Ray O.
Hummell Jr. and Katherine M. Smith, _Portraits and Statuary of
Virginians Owned by the Virginia State Library, the Medical College of
Virignia, the Museum of Fine Arts, and Other State Agencies_ (Richmond,
Va.: Virginia State Library, 1977), 2.
We have hopes of some day being able to place good quality images of all
of the items in the state art collection online with appropriate data
about the subjects, artists, and provenance.
