Could it be that she was offered a teaching position at the Burke Elementary
School and was being quoted board at someone's home? If you have specific
names you could check the online newspaper index at
http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library/newsindex/ Often the names of teachers
were printed in the Fairfax Herald which is fully indexed for that period.
I am copying Mary Lipsey of the Burke Historical Society and the Virginia
Room at City of Fairfax Library. You might address them separately on this.
I don't have a copy of "Memories of Beautiful Burke" on hand but that might
prove helpful as well.

Subject: College near Burke VA in 1943
We have a document offering board to a young woman in Burke, Virginia in
1943 for $35 a month.
The correspondent hopes the young woman will enjoy the school there - What
college/school would have been in Burke VA in 1943?
Thanks!
