From Monday, August 18, 2008, through Saturday, December 20, 2008, the
Library of Virginia presents “From Williamsburg to Wills’s Creek: The Fry-
Jefferson Map of Virginia,” an exhibition that examines the role of surveyors in
colonial Virginia, particularly, the significance of the surveying experience for
Joshua Fry and Peter Jefferson in creating their important map, and the
influence of their map on later cartographic representations of Virginia.
On August 18 curator Cassandra Farrell speaks on the Library’s map collection.
