Subject: The "Engagement" of 1652
In January 1652, Commissioners from Parliament arrived to negotiate
Virginia's surrender to them. Colonists were asked to sign an oath of
lyoalty called an "engagement." Does anyone know good sources for
details about this period and event? Thanks.
