The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the
Treasure House lecture series will take place at noon on Tuesday, 18
October 2005, in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the
Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond. Chris
McDaid, cultural resource manager at the U.S. Army Installation
Management Agency, Northeast Region, will discuss what the material
culture of the Bunch of Grapes and King's Arms taverns tells us about
the tavern-going experience in 18th-century Hampton in a talk entitled
"Where an elegant entertainment was provided":The Role of the Tavern in
18th-Century Hampton, Virginia." This free talk is held in honor
Virginia Archaeology Month.

There is free underground parking for Library patrons, but please note
that space is limited. For more information on this and other progams
