Don't feel badly -- I thought that the story was true until CW History
arrived!
I ought to have remembered that a great deal of CW "Truths," no matter
how appealing, are inventions, either deliberate or unintentional:
stories such as Sgt. Kirkland or Sullivan Ballou's letter sound
wonderful -- but there is no truth to either one. Which is a shame since
similar incidents *did* happen.
Take care,
Bob
