There was also an interesting fictional book based on Mary Ingles'
capture and journey home entitled, "Follow the River," by James
Alexander Thorn. Isn't there a place near Dublin/Pearisburg that
features a play about Mary Ingles on a recurring basis?

Subject: Re: Novels and Movies set in Virginia
"Summer at Buckhorn" is set in southern Virginia. I recall this novel
from my late childhood with great fondness, but I cannot recall the
author. I believe it is Mary _____.
The TV series "Mosby's Marauders" was set in Va. but filmed in
California. The scrubby trees and dry terrain looked funny when
thinking of Northern Virginia's lush greenery.
There is a book written about Mary Ingles and her trip home along the
New River after being captured by Indians. I think it is "Long Way
Home" but I am not sure. Does anyone else know it and the author's
name? It is a great read if you like historical novels
I hope someone is retaining this accumulated list for a website
somewhere.
