History is only onerous if it is a recital of endless facts with no ideas.

i would worry about any teacher who thought they had to jollly it up in 
order to make it attractive to students. Teachng style, not subject matter, 
makes all the difference.
Which gets back to the issue of what is "great" - soneone simply famous, or 
important?
