Ten years ago I conducted research on the Tacoma School in Wise County
for a National Register nomination (it was listed on July 3, 1997). You
should check with the school administration offices in each district
that you're interested in, as that is where I located photos of this
particular school. Library of Congress has photos of some schools from
that region, as well.

Subject: Old Schools in Southwestern VA
I am wondering if anyone has done research on the old one- and two-room
schools that existed in southwestern Virginia and/or West Virginia. Many
of my relatives taught in them and I am searching for photos to support
a narrative regarding their careers.
