You all were speaking of Pocahontas earlier  -  isn't she an outstanding
candidate as a great woman of Virginia?

I personally feel that she would be an truly representative choice.  Not only
is she a native Virginian, she married an early English entrepreneur by whom
she had children, at least one of her became the ancestress of thousands of
modern Virginians through her Bolling marriage.  Maybe someone can review the
many civic service of the descendants of Pocahontas and Thomas Rolph.   (I just
hope I spelled her name right. )
