Minimum Salary $28,143
The Publications and Educational Services Branch of the Library of
Virginia is seeking an experienced copyeditor with responsibility for
fact-checking, reviewing, and copyediting Library publications,
including books, newsletters, exhibition labels, catalogs, pamphlets,
and on-line text, to assure textual integrity, factual accuracy, and
grammatical correctness according to the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th
edition, and the Library of Virginia style sheet; to coordinate
production work with graphic designer and typesetters, review and
correct proofs accurately and on schedule, and do illustration research
and procure rights and permissions.
Masters degree in U.S. History, American Studies, Applied (or Public)
History, English, Library Science, or related field preferred; writing,
editing, or publication experience required; excellent research skills
essential; familiarity with desktop publishing systems and production
software preferred. Candidate must pass a security background check.
